Incisionless Bariatric Procedure
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG)
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) is a minimally invasive, incisionless Weight Loss Procedure that helps reduce how much food your Stomach can hold. Instead of surgical incisions, a Specialist uses a thin flexible Camera (an Endoscope) passed through the Mouth to place a series of internal Sutures, reshaping the Stomach into a smaller “Sleeve-like” shape.
Because there are no external Incisions, ESG is often associated with a shorter Recovery compared to traditional Bariatric Surgery. It’s still a medical Procedure, and long-term Results depend heavily on Nutrition, Activity, and Follow-Up Care.
ESG is often chosen by people who want:
a non-surgical Option for meaningful Weight Loss
a Procedure that preserves the natural Digestive Pathway (no Intestinal Bypass)
structured medical Guidance to build sustainable Habits after the Procedure
Medical Note: ESG Eligibility depends on BMI, Health History, and Weight Loss Goals, so a Consultation is the best way to confirm Fit.

How Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Works
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) helps support Weight Loss by reducing usable Stomach Capacity without incisions. During the Procedure, a Specialist uses an Endoscope (a thin Camera) through the Mouth to place internal Sutures that fold and tighten the Stomach into a smaller, Sleeve-like Shape.
This creates two Core Effects:
Restriction: a smaller Stomach means smaller Meal Portions feel satisfying sooner.
Slower Emptying: the new Stomach Shape can slow Gastric Emptying, helping Fullness last longer and reducing frequent Hunger Signals.
Together, this makes it easier to stay consistent with Nutrition Changes, without relying on pure willpower or temporary Diets.
Six to Eight running Sutures are placed in a U-shaped Pattern along the greater Curve of the Stomach.
When tightened and secured, the Sutures draw together the anterior and posterior Walls to shorten Stomach Length and reduce Diameter.
The endoscopic Folds create a shorter, narrower Stomach Shape, while the Fundus and Antrum remain unchanged.
Who Is It For?
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) is typically a good Fit for Adults who want meaningful Weight Loss without incisions, and who are ready to follow a structured Nutrition and Lifestyle Plan after the Procedure.
You may be a good Candidate if:
your BMI is 30 or higher, and Weight is affecting Health, Energy, or Day-to-Day Function
you’ve tried Diets, Programs, or Medications and keep regaining Weight
you want a non-surgical Option that does not involve cutting or removing part of the Stomach
you prefer a Procedure that keeps the natural Digestive Pathway intact (no Intestinal Bypass)
you can commit to Follow-Up Visits, Nutrition Guidance, and Habit Changes that drive Results
ESG may not be the right Option if there are certain Stomach Conditions, prior Surgeries, or other Medical Risks, which is why a Consultation and proper Workup matter.
Patient Journey
Step 1
Candidacy and Evaluation
Meet with Dr. Jameil Abou-Hanna and our Team to review your Health History, discuss your Goals, and confirm whether Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty is the right Option for your Body. We’ll also review your Insurance Coverage so we can support you through the right Pathway.
Step 2
Clearance and Visits
You’ll meet with our Dietitian for Nutrition Planning, Vitamin Guidance, and Meal Strategy. A full Medical Evaluation helps ensure you’re cleared for the Procedure and identifies any Nutrition Gaps. You’ll also complete a Psychological Evaluation to confirm you’re ready for the Lifestyle Changes that come with Bariatric Surgery.
Step 3
Virtual Support Group
All Patients get free access to our Virtual Support Group, where Members share their Journey, ask Questions, and stay motivated. The Group meets on Zoom every second Tuesday of the Month, giving you a Space to connect before and after Surgery.
Step 4
Qualification for Surgery
In the Weeks leading up to Surgery, your Evaluations and Clearances are reviewed together, including your Medical History, Nutrition Visits, and Psychological Evaluation. These Steps confirm you’re fit for Sleeve Gastrectomy and help ensure the Procedure is safe and tailored to your Health. Once cleared, you’ll receive final Instructions and a Preparation Plan for Surgery Day.
Pre-Op Preparation
Before Surgery, Patients follow a structured Pre-Op Plan designed to make the Procedure safer and Recovery smoother. One key Goal is to reduce Liver Size. Since the Liver can enlarge with Obesity, a short low-calorie, high-protein Diet is typically recommended for one to two Weeks before Surgery. This helps improve Surgical Access to the Stomach and can lower the Risk of Complications.
During this Stage, Patients also receive Guidance on Vitamin Supplementation, Hydration Targets, and Lifestyle Adjustments that support long-term Success. These Preparations are not just about the Operation. They’re the first Step in building the Habits that carry you through Recovery and beyond
Post-Op Recovery
Recovery after Sleeve Gastroplasty is a gradual Process that focuses on Healing, adjusting to a smaller Stomach Capacity, and building sustainable Habits. Our Team guides you through each Stage so you know what to expect.
Early Recovery (First 2 Weeks)
- Short Hospital Stay (one to two Days) for Monitoring
- Walking encouraged within 24 Hours to reduce Blood Clot Risk and support Recovery
- Pain managed with Medication, and Patients begin sipping clear Liquids
- Focus on Hydration, Pain Control, and gentle Movement
Adjustment Phase (Weeks 3–6)
- Progress from puréed Foods to soft Meals, then small Portions of regular Foods
- Daily Vitamins and Supplements introduced to prevent Deficiencies
- Energy improves, and light Exercise becomes possible
Long-Term Recovery (After 6 Weeks)
- Transition into regular, balanced Meals in smaller Portions
- Steady Weight Loss continues over the next six to twelve Months
- Most Patients return to normal Routines, including regular Exercise
- Ongoing Follow-Ups help track Progress and support Nutrition
